As we begin to enter the Christmas season many travellers take advantage of their time off work and choose to travel and explore a new country! There is still time to plan a last minute get away, or begin thinking about Christmas 2019, but where do you go? Where are the best places to visit during this festive season?

Thailand

Over ninety percent of the local people in Thailand are Buddhist, which is a religion that it very tolerant to other religions. While nearly none of the locals themselves will be celebrating the tradition you can still find hints of Christmas in major cities, elephant statues with Santas hats on and Christmas trees among the palm trees. December weather in Thailand is warm to hot, averaging around thirty degrees celsius, you could return to work or school with a glowing natural tan!Avoid the tacky Christmas jumpers and opt for a novelty Christmas swimsuit instead, do they make those?

Truly a beautiful city all year round, the 16th and 17th century houses add to the Christmas spirit, the streets are decorated with breathtaking lights and there are festive markets with amazing food! It is also nice and local, being only three hours away, great fro travellers who don’t like flying or only have a few days off for the Christmas break.

Nuremberg pulls in over 2 million visitors each year, tourist flooding to the impressive Christmas market. Cologne is also popular with tourists who love a good Christmas market. there are over eight different markets to visit, all packed with gifts, food and Christmas souvenirs.

Where better to travel at Christmas but to meet the main man, Santa? Thousands of visitors from all over the world tour the two Santa themed parks. There are real reindeer all over and you can even tour Santa’s workshop and meet the man himself.

Perfect of travellers who are trying to escape the festive season for a couple of days. Morocco is a muslim country, the locals don’t celebrate Christmas making it an ideal location for anyone trying to avoid Christmas traditions. Slightly further away than Amsterdam but still close enough for a mini break in the Christmas holidays.
